BLINK Cincinnati 2022
BLINK
The aim of this project titled, Isolation/Unity/Community was to convey the complex struggles we all faced during the 2020 pandemic lockdown through a 5-minute long blend of rich storytelling a breath-taking animation.
After 4 months of intricate planning among a team of 12 students and many phases of iteration and change, the project would debut on the Hanke Building at BLINK Cincinnati’s 2022 festival.
To begin planning we tasked ourselves to each come up with 3-5 different ideas and print them out. We filtered the ideas out and organized them on a timeline to make sure everyone could include their ideas to one degree or another while still telling the overall story we had in mind.
Below, you’ll see the various physical and digital concept sketches I drew up to give the team an idea of where we should begin production.
As we moved along and needed more solid ideas, I decided to render out a collection of rough drafts for my fellow animators to work on, both improving our work flow and more efficiently condensing our ideas into solid products.
As the final project began to come together, we went through a few more weeks of testing and refining to make sure the finished product was as we wanted for the public to enjoy.
And finally, come the day of the festival, we debuted our project with only a few technical difficulties here and there :)
